Bil Keane The Family Circus and Channel Chuckles Daily Single-Panel Comic Strips Group of 4 (Register & Tribune Syndicate, 1960s-70s). Keane is most generally remembered for The Family Circus, but he also paid some heavy funnyman dues with Channel Chuckles, one of several features devoted to spoofing the midcentury's obsession with the newfangled medium of television. This specimen of the TV strip requires an awareness of the NBC network's Peacock logotype, signifying a color broadcast. The additional three pieces are prime Family Circus yockers -- gently sarcastic and briskly drawn. Ink over graphite on varied Bristol board and Duotone stock. Image areas, 4" x 8" and 8" x 9". Light to moderate toning. Excellent condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
