Basil Wolverton Woozy Woofer Comic Strip Unpublished Pilot Episode #22 Original Art (1930s). Woozy Woofer is a hopeful early bid for cartoon syndication by Wolverton -- a tryout, or audition, feature that anticipated his mid-century successes as a prolific comic-book gagman. The present selection features Wolverton himself (the artist's drawing hand) in a disagreement with his title character, the little dog with the big nose. Even so early in the game, Wolverton's distinctive style is apparent in the textures and the figure placements. Ink over light graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 18" x 4.5". Slight handling wear; otherwise, in Excellent condition.Auction Info
