Art Huhta Mescal Ike Consecutive Daily Comic Strips Original Art Group of 6 (Bell Syndicate, 1939). Celebrate Christmas on the frontier with Yung'un in this week's run of homespun hijinks featuring Pa Piffle, Mescal Ike, and Miss Sally, published at the close of 1939. The panoramic strip from 12-31 is a standout, providing a clever farewell to the old year, with 1940 literally rising on the horizon as the tattered remnants of 1939 fade into the past. These Mescal Ike strips, dated 12-25 to 12-30 of 1939, are produced in ink over graphite on Bristol boards with image areas of 23.75" x 4.75". Associated Newspapers label on the reverse has caused slight discoloration in the final panel of each strip. Light toning, with light staining, smudging/soiling, production oil staining, two missing trademark paste-ups, and minor edge/handling wear. Overall, in Very Good condition.
