    Description

Andy Amato, Al Capp, and Bob Lubbers Li'l Abner - Fearless Fosdick Unpublished Daily Comic Strip Original Art Group of 10 Consecutive (United Feature Syndicate/Harvey Comics, c. 1947-49). This sequence of 10 consecutive daily strips revolve around Abner reading his favorite comic strip... Fearless Fosdick. Many of these are actually titled Li'l Abner's Ideel "Fearless Fosdick". Andy Amato created the graphite layouts, Al Capp himself laid in some detailed penciling and specific face/figure inking, and then Bob Lubbers supplied the final inks and art tweaks. A good deal of these have hand-lettered paste-up word balloons (over inked, hand-lettering). There are post-it notes on the back of many of these that indicate the story arc was aborted, and a couple of the strips are not fully inked. One note on the back indicates that the paste-up lettering may have been produced by Harvey Comics. The strips were created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 18.75" x 5.5". Some have glue residue from paste-ups, some paste-ups are coming loose. In Very Good condition. From the Estate of Bob Lubbers.
