Description

Alfred Andriola Kerry Drake Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-20-43 (Publishers Syndicate, 1943). An early Kerry Drake from two months after the strip's inception! Launched as a crime-melodrama feature, Drake was similar to Chester Gould's Dick Tracy in its use of eccentric villains, as seen here with the character "Fingers". Created in ink and blue wash over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 19" x 5.25". Slight toning, pinholes, spot stains in the bottom margin, and light handling wear. Signed and inscribed to a young aspiring comic artist Seymour Lapan. Also included is a letter from Andriola to the youth dated September 13, 1944. In Very Good condition.
