Description

Alex Raymond Rip Kirby Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-10-1949 (King Features Syndicate, 1949). Raymond had made his earliest mark with a crimebuster feature, Secret Agent X-9, before Flash Gordon and Jungle Jim elevated him to comic-strip royalty. He returned to crime fiction after World War II with Rip Kirby, with photorealistic/cinematic style of illustration for which he was known. Produced in ink over graphite on Bristol board with image areas of 20" x 5.25". Board is moderately toned with heavy edge wear and margin handling. Some rippling and smudges, and production notes in margins. A large, irregular section of the last panel has been removed, presumably to be reused in a subsequent strip. In Fair condition.
