Alex Raymond Rip Kirby #3 Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 3-6-46 (King Features Syndicate, 1946). This is the oldest Rip Kirby daily known to exist! It was one of the first 14 strips sent to King Features Syndicate to secure syndication of the series. The art was returned to Alex Raymond, and has been in the collection of the Raymond family since his death. This episode, a murder at Rip Kirby's doorway sets the fashionable sleuth immediately onto an investigative track. Kirby interrogates the elevator operator, the doorman, and the janitor. Brilliant character-study composition from an essential artist, on one of his most nearly perfect features. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with blue tint. Image area, 19.25" x 5.75". In Excellent Condition. From the Alex Raymond Family Collection.
