Description

Alex Raymond Flash Gordon Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 8-9-36 (King Features Syndicate, 1936). Flash and Zarkov have a run-in with a Sharkon, and rescue a worried Dale from the clutches of the evil Pluton! A fantastic, action-packed "Water World of Mongo" Sunday from one of the finest artists to be found in the "funny pages," Alex Raymond. The Flash Gordon comic strip was originally conceived as a rival to the popular Buck Rogers, and not only did the art look far superior to Buck, but the stories (co-written with Don Moore) were wonderfully engaging as well. This sterling example has an ink over graphite on illustration board image area of 23.75" x 18.75". There is overall toning and edge wear. In otherwise Excellent condition.
