Description

Alex Raymond Flash Gordon Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 8-20-39 (King Features Syndicate, 1939). Alex Raymond's art is breathtaking -- and here is a great example of his work from the height of his artistic prowess. From the textures created by his use of line, to the sultry shot of Dale in Panel 3, this Sunday illustrates why Raymond's artwork is unmatched. This episode from the "Ice Kingdom of Mongo" story arc is missing the usual Jungle Jim topper that accompanied the adventures of Flash Gordon. Rendered in ink over graphite on illustration board with an image area that measures 24" x 19.5". Age-toned, with residue staining along the bottom, rough cut edges, tape on the back top edge, red pencil key lines, with staining, smudging, and handling wear. Signed by Raymond in the last panel, and in Very Good condition.
