Description

Alex Raymond Flash Gordon Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 8-14-38 (King Features Syndicate, 1938). Flash Gordon comic strips don't get much more iconic than Flash and Ming the Merciless in a sword fight! It's no secret that much of George Lucas' Star Wars was inspired by this exciting action-adventure space opera strip. You can easily see that in the last panel. This is from the "Tyrant of Mongo" storyline that ran from 6-5-38 until 3-5-39. Raymond's powerful layouts and clean-lined action made this strip a joy for young and old alike. Created in ink over graphite on very white Bristol board with an image area of 24.25" x 19.5". It is signed with his characteristic signature in the last panel. Handsomely matted and glass front framed to 28.25" x 24.75" and in Excellent condition.
