    Description

Al Taliaferro Donald Duck Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-31-59 (Walt Disney Productions/King Features Syndicate, 1959). Taliaferro is as deserving as his comic-book counterpart, Carl Barks, of recognition as "the Good Duck Artist." Taliaferro was the originating artist on the Donald Duck funnypapers strip, and the first (with writer Bob Karp) to mellow out Donald Duck's personality from an irascible movie-screen presence to a more genial and domesticated type. In this episode, Donald methodically customizes a new job to his own personal comfort zone. Brilliant stuff, here. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Dimensions, 21.5" x 14.5". Excellent condition, with modest handling wear and one noticeable lettering correction (Tier 2, left).
