    Description

Al Smith (signing as Bud Fisher) Cicero's Cat Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 7-8-51 (King Features Syndicate, 1951). Al Smith had been ghosting on Mutt and Jeff since 1932 and was also doing the topper strip, Cicero's Cat. He did not receive credit on the strip until 1955. Usually very light hearted to surreal, this example has a dark dark edge to it that is atypical. The strip is produced in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 24" x 9.75". Two of the images of Cicero are stat paste-ups. Overall the strip is toned with edge and corner wear. There is some staining on the left side. It is in Very Good condition.
