Description

Al McWilliams Twin Earths Daily Comic Strip Original Art Group of 5 (United Feature Syndicate, 1958). 1958 was a prime year for flying-saucer yarns, and a prime period for Twin Earths, a feature ideal for the era and ahead of its time. Nan and Chris try to contact Terra's Commander Granet on the Telviphone to find out who has built colonies on the Moon. Beautifully drawn by McWilliams, and signed by the artist and writer Oskar Lebeck. The dates are 6-2, 6-3, 6-4, 6-5, and 6-6. Each strip is rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol with an approximate image area of 21" x 5.5". The car in the last panel of the 6-4 strip is an original art paste-up. In Excellent condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
