    Description

Al Kilgore - Various Comic Strip Pitch Pieces Original Art Group of 35 (c. 1960-70s). Funny-man Al Kilgore was the writer and artist on the Bullwinkle comic strip based on Jay Ward's zany cartoon The Bullwinkle Show. Kilgore also put together several of his own creations to pitch as potential daily comic strips. Here we have five different pitches that seem to span a period of time from the 1960s through the 1970s. There are 12 strips of a strip staring a sea Captain and his parrot named Salty. There are 4 of a strip titled Ol' Rip, featuring Rip Van Winkle and some leprechauns. There are 6 strips of a series featuring a Beatnik poet and his girlfriend. There is a single strip titled Lloyd & Floyd, and lastly, there are 12 strips titled Hugo of a very large construction worker. All of these are created in ink over graphite and/or blue pencil, some with Zipatone. Five of the Hugo strips are blue pencil only. The pieces are on Bristol board and the image areas vary, but range between 18.25" x 5.5" to 15" x 4.5". The boards are toned and have a musty smell. In Good condition.
