Description
Al Jaffee Tall Tales Daily Comic Strip Original Art (New York Herald-Tribune, 1962). Already a presence in MAD Magazine since the late 1950s, Jaffee also re-shaped the newspapers' comics pages with Tall Tales -- a narrow vertical panel that was usually wordless, or with minimal dialogue. Jaffee's brilliant humor and artistic ability was enough to make the strip a success. Jaffee unique humor is seen here with a submarine equipped with "lifesubs", rendered in ink and Zipatone over blue pencil on Bristol board with an image size of 2.75" x 10.25". Slight toning, discolored title and syndicate paste-ups, with light handling wear. Signed by Jaffee in the lower image area and in Very Good condition.Auction Info
