Al Jaffee Tall Tales Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-1-62 (New York Herald Tribune, 1962). One of the cartoonists in the renowned team of MAD-men who worked on the humor magazine for decades, Jaffee re-shaped the newspapers' comics quite literally with his Tall Tales -- a narrow vertical panel that was usually wordless, or with minimal dialogue. Ink and screentone over blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 2.75" x 10.25". Slight toning, discolored stat title and syndicate paste-ups, marginal notes, with light staining and handling wear. Signed by Jaffee in the lower image area and in Very Good condition.Auction Info
