Description

Al Capp Li'l Abner Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 11-9-41 (United Feature Syndicate, 1941). Every year, a monster that the town folk of Dogpatch affectionately call "IT", emerges from IT's cave to massacree the whole town, but fortunately Li'l Abner's mother, Mammy (her first name is actually Pansy) Yokum, fights IT back intro the cave. A very funny episode from one of the strip's best periods. The ink over graphite on Bristol board image area measures approximately 19" x 26", including the masthead and the Advice fo' Chillun topper strip. Each of the five tiers was cut apart, and reassembled with tape on the back of the artboard. Toning, with glue and tape residue, staining, edge and corner wear, handling wear, and a discolored title stat. In Good condition.
From the Denis Kitchen Collection.
