Chic Young Dumb Dora Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-11-28 (Newspaper Feature Service, Inc., 1928). Sometimes mistaken for Blondie, Young's Dumb Dora is in fact his run-up to Blondie -- a similarly conceived tale of a smarter-than-she-looks protagonist and her romantic entanglements. This melodramatic episode finds a shady detective and a shadier lady conspiring against Dora's pal, Rod. Seems Dora may have spilled some secrets -- but not without incentive. The classic Dumb Dora tag-line, "You ain't so dumb!" appears in Panel 4. Jazz Age humor galore from a master at combining the gag-a-day format with an extended narrative arc. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 15.5" x 4.5". Toning commensurate with age. Very Good condition.
