    Description

Chester Gould Dick Tracy Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-13-45 (Chicago Tribune Syndicate, 1945). Junior Tracy tracks Dick Tracy to the house where Itchy Oliver is holding the detective captive. Within, Itchy snoozes, oblivious to a rescue attempt. His accomplice grows impatient. (She is Kitty B-B Eyes, incidentally -- surviving gun moll of an earlier Tracy villain.) Superb use of shadows and silhouettes to achieve an ominous mood. A bang-up finale is nearing for one of the most suspenseful episodes of Dick Tracy's most productive decade -- the tension is almost palpable. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 19.5" x 6". Toning and handling wear commensurate with age. Very Good condition. From the Ray Edw Collection.
