Charles Schulz Peanuts Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-20-53 (United Feature Syndicate, 1953). Snoopy really gets Charlie Brown's goat in this hilariously memorable, and extremely early Sunday strip (the strip expanded to Sundays in 1952). Schulz quickly transformed neighborhood puppy Snoopy from a supporting player into a major character in his own right, with an unforgettable personality unique to the medium. In time, Snoopy's thoughts would be revealed through thought balloons, but here, it's simply his playful expressions and poses that are so wonderful. Snoopy hogs the spotlight in every panel of this delightful example, and Violet even makes an appearance in the last panel. This particular strip was inscribed and signed by Schulz (as "Sparky"), to noted comics historian Rick Marschall. The art features an ink over graphite on Bristol board image area measuring approximately 22.5" x 15.25", and is in Very Good condition, with overall toning and some discoloring to the paste-up trade dressing in the title panel. If you've been holding out to win a great early Peanuts original, here is your moment of triumph!
