Charles Schulz Peanuts Fourth Frieda Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 3-9-61 (United Features Syndicate, 1961). Always, the perfect gentleman, Linus begs Lucy not to slug his new friend. Frieda was a regular in Peanuts throughout the sixties, but as newer characters were phased in, she appeared less often, making only cameo appearances in various TV specials after 1975. David Michaelis, in his in-depth Charles Schulz biography, Schulz and Peanuts A Biography, refers to the real Frieda, Frieda Rich, as one of the younger group of artist friends and co-workers at the Art Instruction Schools in Minneapolis -- the "animated Canadian transplant." He writes, "Frieda Mae Rich joined the Art Instruction in 1948. Witty, charming, morally courageous, she wore her dark, curly hair with great satisfaction." The image area of this daily measures approximately 27" x 5.5", and it has been matted and framed to an overall size of 33" x 12". Aside from a fold between panels two and three (standard with dailies), the art is in Excellent condition. From the Frieda Rich Collection.
