    Description

Charles Schulz Li'l Folks Comic Strip Single Panel Gag Strip Illustration Original Art (St. Paul Pioneer Press, c. 1947-50). The most famous and most successful comic strip in the world, Peanuts, has its origins in Schulz' previous strip Li'l Folks. This single panel gag strip format series for a small local Minneapolis newspaper is where he developed the characters who would become the cast of the Peanuts. It's easy to see that is Patty in the first panel of this example, and the girl in the lower portion looks much like Sally Brown (Charlie Brown's younger sister). In addition, that first panel is a baseball-themed gag, and baseball would play a large part of Charlie Brown and the gang's life. This comic strip was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 11" x 14". The logo is a printed paste-up. Some handling wear and toning around the marginal edges. In Excellent condition.
