Description

Carmine Infantino Flash Comics #95 Black Canary Splash Page 1 Original Art (DC, 1948). While the image with overlay (the second image shown in our online listing) reflects what saw print, you can see that originally it was drawn was quite differently. The original scene shows a villainess (who is dressed as Black Canary) shoving Larry Lance to his death as Black Canary looks on somewhat helplessly. It was changed to Larry slipping and falling as Black Canary tries to save him. This was one of the earliest Black Canary solo stories, and it's possible that the editors thought the original scene would be too confusing. At any rate, a published splash page from this era is quite a find indeed, and we had certainly never seen one before. Signed. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 13" x 18". Glue staining and some paper loss on both Black Canary figures. The figures on the overlay are photocopies. Good condition. From the Ethan Roberts Estate Collection.
