Carl Barks Vacation Panel Painting Original Art (1972). The first painting in the large format (18" x 24") that Carl Barks ever did was also the only one of his larger paintings from the 1970s to be done in the vertical format. One of the most beloved Duck stories by Carl Barks was the long adventure in the 1950 Dell Giant Walt Disney's Vacation Parade #1, in which Donald, Huey, Dewey, and Louie camp out in the wilderness of Eagleclaw Mountains. The busy splash page of that classic tale was the inspiration for this oil on masonite painting (numbered CB OIL 37). Looks like rough going for Donald and the boys as their vacation trip encounters plenty of problems -- but nothing keeps a smile off Donald's face! The piece is featured on page 26 (color plate #30) of The Fine Art of Walt Disney's Donald Duck. It's beautifully framed to an overall 26" x 32", and is in Excellent condition. From the Kerby Confer Collection.
