Carl Barks This Dollar Saved My Life At Whitehorse Oil Painting Original Art (1973). "If a painting is to stand the test of time, ideally, it should have classic elements. No one, not even Barks, has ever painted better ducks. Many collectors feel Barks made no mistakes in his execution of this painting," write the editors of The Fine Art of Walt Disney's Donald Duck on pages 162-164 (color plates 47 and 48).

The authors add, "What could be a more obvious choice for the cover of a book?" And indeed, this painting graced the cover of that indispensable Barks monograph.

On another occasion, Bruce Hamilton noted, "Collectors have overwhelmingly concluded that "This Dollar Saved My Life At Whitehorse" is Carl Barks' money bin masterpiece."

This oil on board painting has been indexed by Barks scholars as painting #63L (Barks identification number 24-73). It is sometimes referred to as "And This Dollar Once Saved My Life At Whitehorse."

The image area of this piece measures 20" x 16", and it has been framed to an overall size of 29.5" x 25.5". The art is in Excellent condition. Signed by Carl Barks at the lower right. From the Kerby Confer Collection.
