Carl Barks - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Disney Try-Out Illustration Original Art (1935). This is a truly historic item. It is one of two different "Snow White" drawings that Carl Barks produced in November of 1935, which he submitted to Walt Disney Studios in an effort get a job with them. It worked, and after starting as an "in-betweener" in the animation department, he eventually worked his way up to the story department where he and Jack Hannah collaborated on several classic Donald Duck shorts. This whimsical drawing of Snow White (done a couple of years before Disney's version appeared in movie theaters, and very different from that finished version) is produced in ink and blue watercolor over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 11.25" x 8". Slight tanning, with some handling, it is matted and glass front framed to 22" x 19". Overall in Excellent condition. We also have the other drawing that was submitted to Disney available in this same auction!
