Description

Carl Barks - "Eureka! A Goose Egg Nugget" Painting Original Art (1996). Shield your eyes, Duck fans -- the glow from this incredible original painting of Uncle Scrooge finding a huge gold nugget is positively blinding! Depicting the exact moment in 1898 when Scrooge, prospecting for gold in the frozen Yukon, first struck it rich, it's an image every fan of Carl Barks' best-known creation will love. It was inspired by the second Scrooge comic, Four Color #456, and its story "Back To The Klondike." The painting measures 11" x 14", is beautifully matted and framed for an overall size of 19" x 22", and is in Excellent condition. Created towards the end of Barks' long career, it shows without a doubt that the Good Duck Artist hadn't lost his touch. In fact, this oil painting, the second-to-last to be done by Barks before his passing in 2000, was created in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Alaskan/Yukon Gold Rush, as well as the Golden Anniversary of the first appearance of Uncle Scrooge, in 1947. There was even talk of turning this image into a postage stamp at one time! This was formerly part of superfan Malcolm Willits' world-class collection of Disney and Barks art and memorabilia, and now, the chance to add it to your collection has finally arrived. Don't let this elusive treasure slip through your fingers; it may be a long time before it comes up again!
