    Description

Burne Hogarth Tarzan Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-8-49 (United Feature Syndicate, 1949). Tarzan rescues a wounded hunter from an attacking panther, in this typically gorgeous Sunday by Burne Hogarth. Although there have been many fine artists who drew Edgar Rice Burroughs' jungle lord (including such heavyweights as Hal Foster, Russ Manning, and Rex Mason), for many fans, Hogarth was the man. The action really moves along from panel to panel, with a highly detailed background. The art is in ink over graphite with red ink key lines, on two conjoined pieces of Bristol board. The image area measures approximately 19.5" x 26", including the masthead area, which is missing the "Tarzan" logo; it's matted and framed with glass for an overall size of 24.75" x 31.5". Good condition, with paper wear, creases, and stains. Despite the condition concerns, the piece has great eye-appeal, and will look fantastic hanging on the wall of any dedicated Burroughs/Hogarth fan's home. Yours, perhaps?
