Burne Hogarth Tarzan #953 Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 6-12-49 (United Feature Syndicate, 1949). From one of the most truly strange Tarzan story arcs, "Tarzan and the Ononoes", this Sunday features the ape-man as a hostage (and dinner entrée) of the man-apes known as Tree-Men. An exciting episode that gave Burne Hogarth plenty of opportunity to showcase the dynamic anatomy and fluid action he is so well-known for! Rendered in ink with red ink key lines over graphite on two sections of Bristol board with a combined image area of 19.5" x 26.25". The pieces were once joined with tape on the reverse, but have come apart. They are toned, with some surface soiling. The logo is a discolored and ripped printed paste-up. In Very Good condition.
