    Description

Bob Powell Cave Girl #13 (aka A-1 #116): "Altar of the Axe" Page 24 Original Art (Magazine Enterprises, 1954). Powell's mastery of cinematic composition and emotional facial expressions comes across loud and clear in this fusion of jungle adventure and superheroism. The scenarist, Gardner Fox, is warming up here for his resurgence as a costumed-hero writer at the leading edge of the Silver Age of comics. Brilliant brushwork and strategic white-paint retouching. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12.5" x 18". Light toning. Excellent condition. From the Ethan Roberts Estate Collection.
