Bob Oksner (attributed) - The Adventures of Bob Hope #78, page 16 Original Art (DC, 1962). With sales of superhero comics slagging in the 1950s, DC Comics turned to humor to kick up sales and produced comic books based on comedy film stars such as Jerry Lewis and the ever-popular Bob Hope. Beginning in 1950, DC began publishing The Adventures of Bob Hope, a comic book series which kept Bob Hope's antics intact, including his quick one-liners, wise-cracks and off-kilter persona. This snappy page from The Adventures of Bob Hope #78 by Bob Oksner features Hope and company taking the wheel of a powerful racing car. Oksner sums up the dubious face of Hope with a dash of perfectly placed lines. The art measures 15" x 21" with a 13" x 18" image area. There is some slight aging apparent, otherwise the work is in Excellent condition.
