    Description

Bob Lubbers Robin Malone Sunday Comic Strip Original Art Undated (NEA, c. 1968). Having worked in the comic strip and comic book industries most of his life, Bob Lubbers knew a thing or two about the craft before he started his own series Robin Malone. An incredible combination of a little bit of everything, this strip manages to be high-fashion, drama, action/adventure, and in this instance some real comedy! Oh, and don't forget the gorgeous, shapely girls... it's one of his strong suits as an artist. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 24" x 16". The logo in Panel 1 is original art. There is a crease in the top border, and just into Panel 1, there are some whiteout art corrections, some moisture rippling on the right border, and a production oil stain that goes into Panels 3, 6, and 7. Overall, in Good condition. From the Estate of Bob Lubbers.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
