Bob Lubbers Long Sam #50 Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-15-55 (United Feature Syndicate, 1955). Created by Al Capp as an answer to his own Li'l Abner, this series starred a super-strong and statuesque hillbilly female who was naive in the ways of the outside world. Capp used his long-time Abner assistant, Bob Lubbers, as the artist. And it was a fine choice as Lubbers was very skilled at drawing both lovely women and comedy. This Sunday has a bit of both! Rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 22.5" x 15.25". The logo is a stat paste-up that has discolored. The board has been scored and folded to allow mailing to the syndicate. There is a missing text correction paste-up in Panel 1. Toned and in Very Good condition. From the Estate of Bob Lubbers.
