    Description

Bill Watterson and Stephan Pastis Pearls Before Swine Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 6-5-2014 (Universal Uclick, 2014). Here's the second of three very special dailies featuring art by Bill Watterson of Calvin and Hobbes fame, with Pig and Rat in a fantastic scene involving a Martian robot invasion. Watterson's panels are meant to represent artwork by second grader Libby, who apparently has quite the imagination! And Stephan Pastis brings it all back home with a jab at the shrinking size allotted comic strips in today's newspapers. A wild and wacky modern masterpiece!
This collaboration is something of a dream come true for all the many Calvin and Hobbes fans who have been "jonesing" for another taste of Watterson's wonderful wit and brushwork. And what a good cause -- the artwork is being sold to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, on behalf of Team Cul de Sac. As you probably recall, Heritage recently sold a Cul de Sac drawing Mr. Watterson did for ailing cartoonist Richard Thompson.
The art is in ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an approximate image area of 16.75" x 5.25", and the condition is Excellent. Please note that the art is signed by Watterson; this signature was deleted from the newspaper version.
