    Description

Bernie Wrightson House of Secrets #92 Cover Color Composition - First Appearance of Swamp Thing Original Art (DC, 1971). This color study was created by Bernie Wrightson and sent to the colorist (Jack Adler) as a reference. In an interview, Bernie Wrightson described this piece as "It's better than a color guide... it's totally an original piece." As he had no access to a stat machine, once Wrightson had completed the cover's line art, he decided to recreate it in a smaller format and hand-color it as a guide for the color process. So this is 100% pure Wrightson original art from start to finish. It is the very first appearance of Swamp Thing, and sure to be a center-piece for any true-fan of DC's Muck-Monster. The character is a seminal figure in DC's horror-related line-up, and his book was the backbone for the Vertigo imprint. Swamp Thing has previously had his own theatrical live-action movie, live-action TV series in 1990, his own animated cartoon series, and even a toy line. Swampy is now starring in his own TV series on the DC Universe channel. This work was created in ink and watercolor over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 6.76" x 10". Signed by Wrightson in the lower margin. It was originally from the Jack Adler Estate. Lightly toned and in overall Excellent condition. From the Key Comics Collection.
