Description
Arthur Peddy and Bernard Sachs Flash Comics#112 Unpublished Story Page 6 Ghost Patrol Original Art (DC, 1949). The adventures of DC's high-flying 'ghostly trio' of Pedro, Slim, and Fred, were suddenly grounded when Flash Comics ceased publication with issue #104 in early 1949. The art team of Peddy and Sachs must have been working well ahead of schedule as this page was slated for a full 10 issues later! There is a "write-off" stamp in the lower margin, and the page is sliced in two between the panel borders. This makes us think this is one of the "lost story pages" from an infamous purge of unpublished material from the DC vaults (i.e. stock room). The pages were saved from destruction by crafty interns who followed the instructions they were given (cut the pages up and put them in the trash) by carefully cutting between panel borders and then returning to retrieve them from the trash later! Most pages were trimmed horizontally, however the interesting layout of this page did not allow that, so it was cut vertically instead. Also of note, is the "Peddy Gas" sign in the last panel! There is an editorial note to change that to "Speedo Gas". Apparently Editor Julius Schwartz was not having that kind of an "in-joke" in a story. The toned board sections were created in ink over graphite on Bristol board, and are re-joined with tape on the reverse side for a twice-up scale image area of 13" x 18". In Very Good condition.More information about Arthur Peddy. See also: Peddy, Arthur Artist.
