    Description

Al Williamson and Ralph Mayo Jann of the Jungle #16 Story Page 3 Original Art (Marvel Comics, 1957). Williamson, master of dynamic action with technique to spare, once named Mayo as a favorite collaborative inker. Easy to see why, given the illustrators' compatibility on this suspenseful sequence about a murderer who can control predatory animals with hypnotism. Fine facial studies of the title heroine, one stunning overhead shot (lower left) -- and one memorable panel drawn almost entirely in pen-point crosshatching. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12.5" x 18.5". Faint toning, with a few blue-pencil editorial marks, likely added by studio boss Stan Lee. Lee's rubber-stamp imprint appears at upper right. Excellent condition.
