Al Jaffee MAD #355 Inside Back Cover Fold-In Illustration Original Art (EC Publ., 1996). Jaffee launched MAD's Fold-In feature in 1964 -- an almost uninterrupted run, inviting generations of fans to mangle their copies of the magazine to read an encrypted punchline and see a hidden visual gag. This jewel asks: "What Proposed Merger is the Federal Government Moving Quickly to Block?" (The published image would fold in upon itself to form the answer. The original art-board is, of course, too heavy to fold, so no spoilers here.) A large-scale marvel of Gouache painting on illustration board. The blank spaces were designed to contain various corporate logotypes. Jaffee's distinctive curly-haired signature appears at lower right. Image size, 17" x 16". Marginal production tape, with light toning. Excellent condition.
