    Description

Al Capp Li'l Abner Logo and Advice fo' Chillun Topper with Jack Kent Byline Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-31-37 (United Feature Syndicate, Inc., 1937). This fragmentary strip contains likely the earliest published byline for schoolboy cartoonist Kent, who would grow up to become the creator of the acclaimed feature King Aroo. Advice fo' Chillun [...for Children, i.e.] was Capp's reader-participation sidebar to his hit comic strip Li'l Abner. Kent had submitted the cautionary couplet, discouraging the habit of fingernail-biting. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 19" x 4". Overall toning and spot-staining, with adhesive discoloration on photostat logotype. Very Good condition. From the Jack Kent Collection.
