Uncle Scrooge #179 (Whitman, 1980) CGC NM 9.4 White pages. One of the absolute Holy Grails for the Carl Barks completionist, and one of the 10 or 15 most valuable Bronze Age comics. This issue was originally only distributed in multi-packs only, and Overstreet notes "very low distribution". As Jon McClure noted, "All Whitman comics dated August through December 1980 are scarce... this is because independent newsstand distributors and direct accounts never received them!" Frustratingly, when Heritage auctioned the huge Western Publishing comic archives, which had multiples of other scarcer issues like Little Lulu #260, not one single Scrooge #179 was found. Aside from having seen the issue in a bound volume and an unopened pre-pack, we have sold just one copy before: a CGC 9.2 that fetched $603 in 2002. Overstreet 2009 NM- 9.2 value = $750. CGC census 1/10: 6 in 9.4, none higher.
