Description

Gobbledygook #2 Signed Copy With Eastman and Laird Sketches (Mirage Studios, 1984) Condition: VF/NM. Published at the same time as issue #1, this one is no easier to find! Overstreet ranks #2 as the second most-valuable Copper Age comic.
While CGC does not certify Gobbledygook, our three in-house graders who examined this copy of #2 graded it NM-, VF/NM, and VF, respectively. A long color break along the spine near the bottom staple is the only notable defect.
This issue has the same Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ad on the back cover as does #1. Inside, the comic continues Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's Fugitoid story from #1 and includes a few other features including (according to Laird's introduction) the duo's first collaboration from 1981.
This copy also boasts "Turtles" sketches by Eastman and Laird on the inside front cover. Our consignor attests to the provenance as follows: "I am the former archivist for Mirage Studios (during the early 90's) and was the person who collected all products for the studio's archives. I received these copies from Kevin Eastman back in the mid-80's, and had him and Peter Laird sign each book in 1993." The above was confirmed by Kevin Eastman as well. Overstreet 2011 VF/NM 9.0 value = $1,328; NM- 9.2 value = $2,000.
