Walt Disney's Davy Crockett at the Alamo Playset #3540 in Original Box (Louis Marx & Company, 1955). The 1954-55 five-part Disneyland TV serial "Davy Crockett," starring Fess Parker and Buddy Ebsen, was a smash hit. Following its success was a near-endless supply of licensed merchandise featuring the rugged outdoor hero, like coonskin caps and bubble gum cards. Here's one of the best, and hardest items to find -- a complete Walt Disney's Davy Crockett at the Alamo playset. It was produced by the Louis Marx and Company beginning in 1955, as part of its line of fabulous playsets issued from the 1950s to the early 1970s. It's in its original complete illustrated box with all sides, lid and bottom, and three tuck-in flaps as issued. Figures and accessories are in the Marx paper bags as issued. There is a bit of rubbing or scratching to metal building parts; the figures and accessories are in excellent condition with no signs of wear. The instruction sheet has darkened a bit with age. The box has a small amount of tape on the exterior and shows minor aging. Fine+ condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
