Victor Moscoso KSAN Bus Sign Complete Set Group of 15 (Metro-Media, 1971). The World's Longest Underground Comic! Grab a seat, this is a fun ride. In November 1971, riders of the San Francisco Municipal Bus System were treated to an unusual sight inside 100 of the buses in the line -- in place of the usual placard ads for Wrigley's Chewing Gum and other advertisers was this trippy 60' loop that began in the front just past the door, working all the way around to the driver, and back again. It was advertising for the city's hippest radio station, KSAN 95 FM, but it was also a fantastic underground comix in linear form. Zap Comix artist Victor Moscoso filled the black and white panels, most measuring approximately 59" x 11", with swirling images that morphed into one another. It's all very much in line with Moscoso's work in the early Zaps, and in his own Color Comics. There are 15 pieces in all, each one signed by Moscoso. See them all at This only appeared in 100 buses and only for one month, so not a lot of people even got to see them. All but one of these panels were reprinted in Promethean Enterprises #5 (1974), and Moscoso Comix #1 (1989). We have the one section not reprinted, #5A (a KSAN Logo panel), in this group. There is another KSAN Logo panel that was a sort of 20" x 14" header card in the buses and it has been glass front framed. With only some handling wear and occasional corner dings, these are in overall Very Good condition. We don't expect to see another full set of these for a long, long time.
