Pokémon Charizard #4 First Edition Shadowless Base Set Rare Hologram Trading Card (Wizards of the Coast, 1999) BGS NM-MT+ 8.5. Here's a great example of one of the most popular cards in the entire hobby, a first edition shadowless holographic base set Charizard. The card is graded NM-MT+ 8.5 by BGS with subgrades: Centering (9.0), Edges (8.5), Corners (9.0), Surface (8.5). In the Indigo series, Ash and friends travel to Cinnabar Island where Blaine, the Cinnabar Gym Leader, actually has his gym inside a volcano! During this 3-on-3 Pokémon battle, Charizard comes in at the last moment to face off against Blaine's final Pokémon, Magmar. After a hard-fought battle, Charizard is victorious and Ash wins the Volcano Badge. This is actually one of the only times, if not the only time, that Charizard listens to Ash. The artwork is by Mitsuhiro Arita. BGS has certified 411 copies of this card to date, with 81 earning NM-MT+ 8.5 grade and 139 graded higher. Approximate SMR Price Guide value =$5,000.Auction Info
