    Horrors of War Trading Card Partial Set (Gum Inc., 1938). The Horrors of War card series ranks with the Mars Attacks! series as the most famous non-sport card set of all, and is arguably the most gruesome. Included are copies of nearly half of the set of 288, with many duplicates and a few triplicates. Included are #1-9, 11-33, 35-42, 45-49, 51, 52, 54-56, 58-60, 62-66, 69, 73, 74, 85, 91, 93, 99, 115, 117, 119, 122, 124, 125, 127, 128, 130-134, 136, 137, 139, 140, 143, 144, 146, 148, 150-152, 154, 155, 159, 160, 163, 164, 168, 171, 173, 175-181, 183, 184, 188-191, 196, 203, 206, 208, 227, and 239 from the original series of 240, plus 241-246, 252-258, 264, 268, 275, 277, and 286 from the rarer second series of 48, the latter two cards part of the even rarer cards featuring Hitler. Duplicates include: #3, 7, 8, 13, 14, 16-25 (with 3 each of 19 and 20), 27, 28 (3), 30, 31, 32 (3), 35, 37, 38, 42, 45, 46, 52 (3), 54, 58, 59, 65 (3), 122, 125, 128, 130, 131 (3), 133, 134, 152 (3), 154, 164, 241, 243, 244, 252, 256, and 264. Also included are four cards from the 1939 World of Arms series: #1, 4, 5, and 7. The cards average VG-, with cards numbered above #50 generally in better condition, VG to EX. The duplicates of #1-35 average GD-VG; #36-up average VG. The World in Arms cards average VG. 193 cards in all - a similar card set sold for $1,314.50 in May, 2012.
