The Official Batman & Justice League of America Playset (Ideal, 1966). It's only the third time in over 16 years that we've had the pleasure of offering this rare set that rivals The Official Batman Utility Belt set as the holy grail of Batman collectibles. It's next to impossible to find a complete, undamaged set, much less the original box and display. We've never before seen the original box in such great condition, with the window box cellophane still intact, with just a few pieces missing.Highlights include: 1) all 12 original action figures - Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Robin, Flash, Thunderbolt, Kaitor, Mouseman, Brainstorm, Joker, and Keyman, all in Mint condition except for Aquaman, whose hand-held knife is broken (often the case with the set). Even Wonder Woman's Ring of Fire is here! 2) Bat Plane and launcher; 3) Batmobile ("Bat Car" on the box); 4) Console Batcomputer, with both antennas (often broken and missing); 5) Robot (gray torso and red limbs version); 6) Sanctuary Batcave (missing its periscope, weather vane, door bar, and part of its threshold); 7) Reflector Ray Weapon; and 8) the original labeled platforms holding the superheroes and villains in place in the box.
Many of the individual parts command hundreds of dollars if sold separately, and some parts bring over $1000, including the Batplane launcher, the console batcomputer, and Wonder Woman with her Ring of Fire. And don't forget the rare box with intact cellophane window, in Very Fine condition! Other than the missing parts noted above, the pieces are in Fine to Near Mint condition. Hake's Official Price Guide to Pop Culture Memorabilia (2008) lists a value of $8,500 for a set in Fine condition, including the box, and a value of $13,500 for a set in Near Mint condition. The playset measures 27.5" x 15.5" x 6.5", with most of the action figures approximately 3" tall.
