Superman Secret Chamber Initial Ring (Ostby and Barton, 1941) Condition: VF. An incredibly rare premium ring that was originally offered in conjunction with the Defense Club Milk Program. For ten cents and two bottle lids, kids got to pick their initial (which just happens to be an "S" in this case), which went on the front panel. This panel pops off and allows you to hide small pieces of paper underneath. Hake's notes that there are two versions of this ring, one with a "mystic eye" on the front panel, and one with an image of Superman, of which our offering is the latter. The rings with Superman on them are considered extremely rare, and Hake's suggests that there are only 9 reported known copies; four in Good, four in Fine, and one in Very Fine. We're calling this one a conservative Very Fine, with no dents, scratches, or other physical problems. The tiny Superman image is sharp and clean. A fantastic item! Listed in Hake's Price Guide to Character Toys with a Very Fine value of $20,000.
