Description
Stan Freberg Political Awards and Letters Group (1971-85). The California Senate passed a state resolution on April 18, 1985. It was Member Resolution 53 by the Honorable Alfred E. Alquist and has the State Seal of the California Senate. The resolution mentions Stan Freberg's unique talents to the many phases of American society, touches on his comedy album success and his induction to Songwriters Hall of Fame, and his being a founding member the board of governors for the Grammys. The resolution celebrates his influence on educating American youth with his classic Stan Freberg Presents the United States of America album and mentions his use of comedy in advertising. Finally, also commemorated is Freberg's numerous International Broadcasting Awards plus his 21 Cleo Awards. Staying with politics, also included in this offering is a signed personal letter from George M. McGovern (dated June 19, 1971) thanking Stan for his help on radio ads and for his personally calling Senators for the McGovern-Hatfield ticket. The letter is framed, with some fading and slight staining. A third political piece is a plaque on a piece of flooring that states "On this board Stan Freberg joined the Republican Party at the Village Crean March 17, 1991. Presented by Tom Fuentes Chairman Republican Party of Orange County." All three awards have minor handling. Fine condition.View all of [The Stan Freberg Collection ]
