St. Louis Post-Dispatch Newspaper Comics Section featuring Superman (St. Louis Post-Dispatch, 1939) Condition: VG. A St. Louis Post Dispatch Sunday December 31, 1939 newspaper section consisting of 12 pages, used as a sales incentive. The section touted "Here Is What You Missed If You Did Not Read The Comics In The Daily Post-Dispatch Last Week", with images of Superman, Li'l Abner, Brick Bradford, Skippy, Blondie, Jane Arden, Big Chief Wahoo, Popeye, Buck Rogers, Mandrake the Magician, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Henry, Grin And Bear It, Napoleon And Uncle Elby, and more. The second page features a nearly full page "Superman" Sunday strip, featuring Superman in 15 of the 19 panels. The pages have moderate wear along the left edge, withe the first and last pages being loose, and with large splits to the other pages and uneven edges. There is a faint horizontal fold at the center as distributed. The pages are lightly aged with slightly darker margins. In Very Good condition. A very rare item. Not listed in Overstreet. A copy sold for $900 earlier this year.
