Description

Ralph McQuarrie and Joe Johnston The Designing of Star Wars Portfolio Plates Group of 145 (c. 1978). Multiple copies of four stunning prints, two prints of paintings by Ralph McQuarrie and two black and white prints by Joe Johnston. They feature McQuarrie's image of "Deak Starkiller" fighting Darth Vader (11 copies, one in Good). Produced from the original script, rewrites would transform Deak into Luke Skywalker. This was also the image that firmly set the look for Darth Vader. The second McQuarrie plate shows a fierce dogfight between an X-Wing and Tie Fighters in the trenches of the Deathstar (24 copies). One of Joe Johnston's images features the same background design and a Tie Fighter (60 copies). The other is more of a technical drawing of X-Wing and Y-Wing class ships (50 copies). The plates are 24" x 18" and unsigned. They are on average in Excellent condition, unless noted.
